chuckaboo

An affectionate nickname for a close friend; a favourite chum.

“‘Come along, my chuckaboo — the tavern keeps till midnight,’ he called to his oldest friend.”

Note: James Redding Ware's Passing English of the Victorian Era (1909): ‘a name given familiarly to a favourite chum’; probably a softened ‘duck’.
